A civic accountability project connecting constituents to their lawmakers.

Document. Connect. Track.

The Constituency Project

We go into congressional districts and ask people directly what they want their representatives to address. We document those priorities on camera, bring the issues raised most consistently during that reporting period to the district's member of Congress, record the lawmaker's response, so you can track.

Each reporting cycle creates a time-stamped public record of what participating constituents raised, how their representative responded, and what happened afterward. Later reporting cycles are added as priorities change.

Listen

We visit congressional districts and record residents speaking in their own words about the issues they want their representative to address.

02 /

Take the Questions to Congress

We identify the issues raised most consistently among the people interviewed during that reporting period and invite the district's member of Congress to respond directly.

03 /

Create the Record

We publish the interviews, the representative's response, and relevant follow-up in a dated district record. New reporting cycles are added without erasing the earlier record.

Virginia Demonstration Initiative

The Virginia Demonstration Initiative is the first implementation of The Constituency Project. It documents constituent priorities across three congressional districts representing urban, suburban, and rural communities, and records how their elected representatives respond as part of a growing national public record.

About these records: TCP's field interviews are qualitative journalism, not scientific polling. Each district record identifies the dates of the reporting period and reflects the issues raised among the people interviewed during that period.
